Hey... if anyone here is bored... I get bored and spend time on the "Places" application trying to correct and maintain the accuracy of the locations in and around Disney Parks. But one person alone cannot do this, especially since all changes must be reviewed by others. Could totally use anyone who's bored to join in the boredom editing.

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Sounds like my kind of thing. I'll check into it when I get a spare moment tomorrow.Mayonnaise wrote:Hey... if anyone here is bored... Re: Facebook "Places" In Disney Parks
Just so we're not working at odds:
Because you cannot report anything as a duplicate of the offical Disneyland, location... for some glitchy reasons, I'm reporting all duplicates as duplicates of the the biggest unofficial one:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Disneylan ... 3624069510
And trying to change it's name to just "Disneyland" since the city is already listed as the city, and doesn't need to be in the title. Locating everything in that park inside that too with the "Location inside another place" tool... unless they're in Cali Adventure, in which case I locate them in Cali Adventure.
In the Florida Map, I'm trying to get all the internal Walt Disney World locations to show their city as "Lake Buena Vista" because a large preponderance already are, despite the Official "Walt Disney World" location being set as in the city of Orlando (and not editable because... official and all that.) And then setting them inside their parks using the "Location inside an existing place" tool. (Clearly doesn't apply to the resorts, those have street addresses of their own.) There's not a good Epcot Location yet... waiting for one of them to take the lead and become the primary. Trying to standardize Pavilion names as [Country] Pavilion, and reporting things in those pavilions as being located inside them.
I'm reporting XLocation [Buss/Monorail/Train] Station as not a duplicate of XLocation, switching them to the transportation category, but I am reporting Monorail [Color] as duplicates of the "Walt Disney World Monorail System" because the trains are not places, they're vehicles, and always moving around.
Yes... I'm nuts.

Actually, all of the WDW theme parks are located in the city of Bay Lake, Florida. Lake Buena Vista is just the mailing address, and Orlando is about 20 miles away.Mayonnaise wrote:In the Florida Map, I'm trying to get all the internal Walt Disney World locations to show their city as "Lake Buena Vista" because a large preponderance already are, despite the Official "Walt Disney World" location being set as in the city of Orlando (and not editable because... official and all that.)
Which is why you fit in here so well.Yes... I'm nuts.

By "preponderance that already are" I mean a metric fucktone already are labeled as "Lake Buena Vista" in Places... I'm not going to singlehandedly try and sway the tide to Bay Lake, it's bad enough battling against the folk labeling said locations as being in "Orlando" or "Kissimmee."Zazu wrote:Actually, all of the WDW theme parks are located in the city of Bay Lake, Florida. I'm not THAT Crazy.
Also I'm guessing there's some weird publicity reason that the folks at Disney have set the Official "Walt Disney World" Location as being in Orlando, despite it totally NOT being in Orlando, and as I said... because it's official it's also un-editable.

Last time I stayed at Pop Century, I got to check in on Facebook at "Hell." That was at the top of my listings. Then a few weeks ago I drove thru the same spot on Georgia twice where someone had created the location "Where the Eff am we?" on Foursquare so now I'm the Mayor :P
