*Ding!* "Checking in?"
*Ding!* "Checking in?"
And already am I getting some stories. A lot of these have to deal with DDP and lemme tell ya, most people get it some....don't.
-I had a couple check out on their last day and ask how much they had left. They had quite a bit of quick service left, 1 or 2 snacks on top of that (they had QSDDP). The wife walked away saying how idiotic it was and what a waste of money since they didn't use it correctly. Oh, btw, they were in a building that was oh say 2 minutes from OPR.
-Another couple came by and complained that they had an issue with their DDP the night before. The wrong credit card was charged to the wrong room. Oh and they had to get on the bus in ten minutes! (THEY WERE RUNNING OUT OF TIME!!!!) Why they didn't stop by the night prior i couldn't tell you but they didn't.
-Had a quest come down and ask for a room change. Told him I would look into it but inquired what was wrong with the room. His response was "I expected better." Whatever the "better" was I couldn't tell ya since all of CBR's rooms are the same size, shape (basically) and, for the most part, same amount of bed space. He ended up paying over $200 just to get a new room in the pirate rooms.
-Our computer system crashed not too long ago and the first guest I checked in after my break was unlucky enough to get caught in the middle of it. Luckily for him, though, he did Online Check-In. Unluckily, we couldn't tell if the room was ready or not. I gave him a card with our number instructing him to call us to see if the room was ready in about an hour or so. He got angry and kept asking me why we couldn't call him. To which I responded by saying we couldn't even access his length of stay let alone his cell phone number. He, along with the other two families he was traveling with, walked off in a huff all "po'ed" cause the computer crashed. I'm sorry, what would they like us to do? It's A-not our fault and B-we can't do jack about it!
-I also love the families who book a Magical Gathering but they all book separate categories and expect to be near each other. I once had three families one who booked standard, one who booked preferred and one who booked pirates. We ended up putting them in corner buildings in Trinidad North, Trinidad South and Jamaica all within 5 minutes walking of each other and the grandmother still complained that they were "far apart". Luckily her husband saw the ingenuity and explained they weren't as far apart as say Trinidad South, Barbados and Martinique which would have been worse.
-Had a guest ask me for an address for the whole of Downtown Disney so he could put it into his GPS. You know, Downtown Disney? The one just down the same road he came off of? Yep. Wanted to use his GPS to get there.
As I encounter more I'll post here but what a dozy for the first month! Love it though, absolutely love it! XD

He's probably the kinda guy that would input a course from Oahu to Maui and run into Molokai.ectomstr wrote:Had a guest ask me for an address for the whole of Downtown Disney so he could put it into his GPS. It really happened.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Um...not to be picky, but about the guy who asked why you couldn't call him? True, you couldn't access his information off the computer, but...well, couldn't someone just have gotten his phone number from the guest himself? Not to say he wasn't still an SG, but it does seem like that would be a simple solution.
I could see myself doing what Mr. GPS did, if I had just gotten a GPS. "Let's see if it can guide me to the mailbox out front!" I'm geeky like that. :cat1:
As for the guy who "expected better", yep, he needs to work on those communication skills.

Re: *Ding!* "Checking in?"
In retrospect we could have, but the system crashed right at that moment and would have been easier for him to call us then for us to get his number, hold onto and possibly lose it in the confusion that is switching to manual. And, again, the other factor was we just weren't sure whether or not his room was actually Ready. He had his room key and packet it would've been easier for him to just check and see from his point rather than having one of the FSA's go through a rather long list of people (which we had going on) while also dealing with other irate guests over the crashing computer.PatchOBlack wrote:Um...not to be picky, but about the guy who asked why you couldn't call him? And, to be quite honest, we did call to check to make sure he got the room number.

The GPS one cracked me up. My racing team mate is incredibly GPS dependant. I think he uses it to go to work everyday. I give him crap about maybe needing it to make it all the way around the race track.
His family is going to meet us at WDW this May. I am confident he will use his GPS to go everywhere. They are staying at AK Lodge. Bet he uses it to go to AK.

Using to get to AKL is one thing, using it to get from AK to the parks is something entirely different.TeamUBR wrote:The GPS one cracked me up. My racing team mate is incredibly GPS dependant. How hard is it to read your receipt after you use the Dining Plan? It is printed right on there.ectomstr wrote: -I had a couple check out on their last day and ask how much they had left. Hubby and I benefited from someone who was trying to use up all of the dining credits they had left. She and her family were leaving that day and she stood next to the register in Roaring Forks, buying people lunch with a big smile. I think she saw it as opportunity for spreading some magic. We thanked her quite a bit for buying us a snack. :D:ectomstr wrote: -I had a couple check out on their last day and ask how much they had left.
