Have the CMs noticed kids being dragged around by crazy parents?
Re: Have the CMs noticed kids being dragged around by crazy parents?
I don't have kids but I'm in a stage in life where brothers, sisters, coworkers have kids that I can take places. I read this thread when it first started and I didn't think much of it. Yes, I've seen all the scenarios talked about in here, but I've never been a part of one. Until this Saturday.
5 year old birthday party at Typhoon Lagoon. Kids ages 5 to 9.
- "I want to do the wave pool" - so off we go. Some scared (big loud waves,) some having fun. "OK people, time to move on to something else, there's a whole park full of stuff." "I don't want to leave the wave pool!" "We'll come back later" And so on.
- "Lets go on the lazy river" Kids are freaked out, they don't know what's ahead around the corner. They are afraid they are going to drown even though they can touch the bottom with their feet. Except for the shortest and youngest kid who was fearless, of course. By the time we do one loop, they are all comfortable and no one wants to get out. Around and around we go. It was about impossible to get them out of the lazy river.
- "OK kids, let's try the family raft ride" Lots of tears, kids are scared. Show them the unload area, the kids see that people come out alive, in fact, they are smiling. They are very nervous, they still don't really want to do it. But they do it. "Again! Again!'
- Repeat the rest of the day with every single thing we tried.
So I finally started to understand parents. Kids are afraid of the unknown and they require a bit of pushing but you gotta know and understand their limits. Apparently kids are perfectly happy sticking to the one thing they are familiar with which brings them joy. Typhoon Lagoon could have just consisted of one pool and nothing else, they would have been fine with it.
I got home at 6:30, I was in bed by 8.
Never again. Until next year I guess.

Wait, does she work at DLR too? What is a tugger crew?turkeyham wrote:I hope my place stays quiet so I can get some sleep. I have bids with my morning tugger crew that she gets tied onto the mule and is dragged back stage until she understands the concept to shut up at night.

My neighbor upstairs does not work for the park.
She has a job somewhere.
She has a problem. She is noisy and she does not care if she wakes up her neighbors at all hours of the night. Last night I went to bed around 11:30 pm, she got home and I heard a crashing sound in her living room. Again she is re-arranging her living room at 1am.
A tugging crew tugs beverage carts into the park. The mules are what tuggers use to get around. I was e-mailing my friends a message saying you can tug my neighbor to get a message not to wake up others at wee hours of the morning.

If you live in an apartment complex, talk to the management, they should be able to put a kibosh on that shit. :twisted:turkeyham wrote:My neighbor upstairs does not work for the park.

Time to whip out a copy of the C&Rs and read the section covering nuisances.

This does happen, I'm sure.David R wrote:- "OK kids, let's try the family raft ride" Lots of tears, kids are scared. But after being goaded and pushed into riding it many years ago, by my parents, I will never, ever EVER EVER set foot on Splash Mountain ever again. EVER.

Stories like this make me glad I live on the top floor of my building. No upstairs neighbors to stomp around and make noise. When you live in an apartment or condo complex you have to be considerate of your neighbors when it comes to noise.turkeyham wrote:My neighbor upstairs does not work for the park.

I am careful of how hard I step when I walk around and all so I don't disturb my downstairs neighbors and how loud I have my TV up so I don't disturb anyone, especially at night. I'm glad I live in a nice, quiet complex where the units are fairly well insulated for noise. The apartments are also laid out in a good way (at least in the one bedrooms), the living room shares a wall with the neighbor behind me, the kitchen shares a wall with the neighbor beside me and the bedroom is the outside corner with the bathrooms and walk-in closets of both units in between. This way none of the bedroom walls share with the neighbor. Helps make the bedroom quiet.
My apartment here are a LOT better than with noise than the apartment I lived in in Pensacola. There my bedroom wall shared with the living room wall of my neighbor. For a while I had noisy neighbors too. Lord only knows how many times I had to bang on the wall or even go over there to get them to turn down their stereo late at night. I had to threaten to call the law more than once and did complain to the complex management. I was very glad when they moved out (or more accurately skipped out as they never told the complex they were leaving). The next neighbor I had was nice and quiet, especially at night. Which is good considering he was the maintenance man for the complex and one would hope an employee of the complex knows how to be respectful of his neighbors.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
