As for the seating policy, if it helps: on our last trip my 9 year old daughter, 8 year old son and I all sat together in the front. It wasn't THAT tight of a squeeze and we were not uncomfortable. My son weighs about 60 lbs, my daughter maybe 80 to 90 lbs and I was at 135 at the time. Hope it helps!

What *is* the seating policy for this ride? Every time I've gone, we've been two to a row, except once, when I was put between the two pre-teen girls I was with (and we were quite crowded and I didn't like it).

Until the rumored lapbars are installed on Splash, which would force a max of 2 people per row, the current policy is up to 3 per row. And it doesn't even have to be all kids... As long as everyone is seated, they'll let you go. Same thing on Big Thunder.

There was a photo posted on Board Z from a few years ago of a group of all adults (maybe one or two teens in the group) sitting 12 in a log. Of course the group was all close friends, and I'm sure some of the people on the end of the rows were only sitting with one "cheek" on the seat, but they were all sitting.

Splash, on both coasts, has always been my favorite. I used to go to DLR quite a bit with several military friends of mine when I was stationed in california. The logs are a bit of a different shape there with only one person per "row". We really frequently would end up with a couple of big (6ft+ 200lb+) military guys in the back of the log and a few of someone's random kids in the front. It is really fun when the back is weighed down and you're cruising through the water extra fast in a nose-up attitude! :p: Once, some random kids we didn't know started splashing a little in the front of the log. My buddy and I thought it was funny and the kids were cute and it was a really hot day anyway, so we splashed back a little. Needless to say, everyone got *really* wet. It was pretty hilarious when we saw them meeting back up with their parents as we were leaving the attraction! :twisted: (BTW: nobody tell me what's in the water I was soaked with -- I'm sure I don't wanna know.)

Can I just say from working a ride similar to Splash that I absolutely hate guests putting their hands in the water? I don't get it. Our water is nasty. It spent a month smelling like a horse's backside before we finally got algicide for the lake our water is pulled from. At one point it was such a dark green you couldn't see the skis that the boats are stopped on when they were in the down position.

I hate not having restraints. Unlike Splash, ours has one long bench that you straddle. People love to rock the boat, stand up, or splash. We're not trying to be kill joys, we're just trying to stop you from doing something stupid that will ultimately end up in you getting hurt. Plus, E-stops on water rides are downright dangerous as there are no breaks and the boats will bump into eachother. We had one guy who ripped off his fingernail trying to splash somebody when he got it caught on the side of the trough.

Sorry, can you tell that is one of my pet peeves? That guy sounds like a real jerk and I'm afraid I might not have been able to hold my tongue had he been doing that to me. At the very least I would have been approaching a CM at the end of the ride.

Oh boat loaders, and guests who think they know everything... don't you love it?! Yes, the Splash boats are designed to fit 2 across, however, 3 kids can fit across in those rows.

Pirate boats are designed to seat 23 large adults... 4 people in rows 1-5, and 3 in row 6. The boat loaders have their own systems to filling the boats, especially if we're busy and trying to keep the line moving as fast as possible. We know how and if you're going to fit in the ride vehicle. I LOVE, however, when we give a row to 4 tiny adults, and they complain that they won't fit... however the group of 4 larger adults don't say a word. Or the tour groups that try to rush the boats... when we finally need about 2+ more people to step in and try to help keep some order when they load.

Guests need to trust the cast that they know what they're doing...

Then there was one group of IIRC, German tourists, who all wanted to sit together on Small World. We tried to get them into two boats, as there were about 30 of them. Nope. They all smushed into one boat and went through. I'll just say that when they came back, you'd think they had ridden Kali.
