This is a new one-Dis Playground police?

Post by lilogirl » Sat Aug 14, 2010 11:33 am

This is a first (for me anyway)! Children not staying at that resort can not use the playgrounds. :( Really? Does anyone care? All you resort CM's need to start standing around and checking resort ID for the playgrounds LOL.

I know pool-hopping isn't allowed and I wouldn't be surprised if some could see that as applying to the playgrounds as well.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Lots of amenities exist only for resort guests. If you are not a resort guest, do not use these amenities. This includes recreation and transportation.

You may utilize food facilities (for food purchased at said location) and merchandise stores to purchase items. Period.

People need to stop thinking that WDW in general is their public playground or back yard. We are privately held land that serves as an international entertainment destination. No, your DVC card or CM ID or AP or even day park ticket do not entitle you to usage of everything we have to offer.

Violation of these policies can result in eviction and even trespass.

I don't mean to be argumentative here but I believe that it has been established many times over that the transportation system in WDW is for every guest whether they stay on site or not. I think I even heard that on one of Disney promotional vacation planners.

Then someone needs to tell Disney to change their website:

"Resort Transportation
Walt Disney World Resort offers an extensive transportation system that is complimentary for Disney Theme Park and Disney Resort hotel Guests. The system includes buses, monorails and boats that link together select Disney Theme Parks, Disney Water Parks, Disney Resort hotels and major shopping and recreation areas."

And Disney needs to tell the Mom's panel to stop advising using the recreation(Movie) at the campground:

"Q:can we go watch the movie at Ft. wilderness without park admission, how do you know what movie is playing, thanks - Asked on 11/11/2008

A:Yes, anyone can go to Fort Wilderness and participate in the Chip & Dale Campfire. There is no admission fee or entrance ticket needed for this experience. There is, however, a minimal fee for marshmallows if you would like to do some roasting......."

Someone might want to advise the Mom's panel on Transportation too:

"Q:Is there a fee to ride the monorail and other Disney transportation if we don't stay at a Disney resort?

- Asked by Thelma from DE on 10/19/2009Answered by
Erin F., NY Category Budget Travel T

Q:There is never any charge to ride the Walt Disney World park and resorts transportation. You can feel free to ride the buses, boats and monorail to get between the parks, water parks, resorts, and Downtown Disney regardless of where you are staying.

Enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World!"

You may know that, but the point was Guests read what the panel write. Some take it as gospel. Then if a CM tells them "no" the Guest becomes upset with the CM.

Since it appears Disney has no issue with the info provided by the panel, one could say the policies listed by the panel are true. Especially when there is nothing "in writing" to the contrary.

Could it be that the the transportation quote above can be interpreted to mean that a Theme Park Guest is allowed to use the transportation system and that a resort guest is allowed to use the transportation system and and not that you have to be both a combined guest and park user?

How does a guest know what is intended for that particular resort's guest except to ask at the resort. Even so, most will likely get a wrong answer.

The Moms aren't the only ones who promote the campground campfire. Having been to WDW way too many times in the last 10 years, the campfire is promoted by many. (Not that it's policy-correct, only that it happens often.)

The other thought that I have is that as a guest, I love all of WDW and because of that I continue to return. What sets Disney apart is that 'magic' that y'all deliver so amazingly. Would Disney really want to get hard-nosed and start sending a non-so-magical inference? Word would get out that the magic isn't there anymore and that Disney isn't worth those extra bucks after all.

As an example, someone cuts in line and when asked to not do that, the cutter doesn't speak English. (yea, right) Do cast members get involved? No, not unless it becomes really physical. Now, I get angry that CMs don't get involved but you know what? I understand why they don't. How un-magical would that be?

Just my opinion. No offense intended here. Practicing my future skills is all. ;) I can't wait to learn all this stuff first-hand.

It would be very non magical for the line cutter, but for some reason I stopped caring about their magic as soon as they decided that they were better than me and therefore didn't have to follow the rules. I, for one, would be feeling the magic much better if I felt that the CM's were watching for my best interests and what was fair. Then I would know that they were serious about making "civil" guests happy and not just after every dollar they can get their hands on by whatever means.

The monorail is available to everyone not just resort guests since it's one of the modes of transport for those parked in the MK lot, which includes guests staying off site.
