Do CMs ever, ever call security?
Re: Do CMs ever, ever call security?
Shorty: Why would it be unappropriate to tell us why you called security; leaving names/identities out?

I would expect that the company does not want CMs divulging the various things that CMs are expected to call security for, or security operations and procedures in general. Much (if not all) of that type of info is considered secret by Disney, and many other companies that deal with very large facilities where the public gathers. You can use your imagination as to why they want it kept secret, its not unreasonable in my opinion !hueneme wrote:Shorty: Why would it be unappropriate to tell us why you called security; leaving names/identities out?
I also expect that to violate that policy would immediately result in the walk of shame with a special escort for that cast member. Lets not be asking CMs to put their jobs in jeopardy to satisfy our curiosity.

My serious apologies. That isn't what I wanted at all. I do have a curiousity about all things WDW. Details are not what I wanted - only what would trigger such an action since we all know that security is there and does work more than walking the grounds. Truly sorry for stirring up anything and I would love for a mod to pull this entire thread. It was a thoughtless question.delsdad wrote:I would expect that the company does not want CMs divulging the various things that CMs are expected to call security for, or security operations and procedures in general. We call all the time, especially in the Parks. Some things are obvious, like abandoned children or packages. Some are not, like "suspicious behavior" (which I will not define in public).HappyCamper wrote:Of all the trips to WDW, I've never, ever seen a CM call security. It's either handled by the CM or ignored. Have you ever had to call Security or a supervisor? What would provoke such a call?
In attractions, the primary reason was to deal with guests who were behaving in an unsafe or disruptive manner that I could not talk them out of. It was my experience that they took too long to arrive and were generally ineffective (no offense MAPO, this was before your time).
When something was *really* serious, we just dial 911 directly. That actually brings out both Security and managers faster than calling either directly, in my experience. Plus, nobody argues with the Sheriffs -- for more than three seconds!

Re: Do CMs ever, ever call security?
I have had several times at work when it has been necessary to call security. No comments here as to why
However, a few months ago I was in Epcot as a Guest in the queue for Malmstrom one of the people with me pointed out a man in a very improper T-Shirt a few rows behind us.
He was wearing a black T-Shirt. In large white letters it said "BLINK" and the next line, in smaller letters, said "If you want to fuck me".
I got out my cell phone, called security and gave a report. We then boarded our boat. While at unload, before the boat with that Guest arrived a Security Host came up to the Unload Podium. I went up to him, told him I was the one who phoned in the report, and the Guest had not arrived yet.
At that time they opened the doors for the movie so we went in and, of course, I never heard of what results were.

Maelstrom must bring out the troll in people. We had to ask the Cm's at Maelstrom to call security to break up a fight in line. They called and security was waiting for them before the movie.

As I said earlier, I have a curiousity of all things Disney. Couple that with the fact that my late husband was in law enforcement and I guess it was a natural question for me. My apologies to you for asking about it. It truly wasn't meant to get to the deep dark secrets of Disney. Hopefully, within the next year, I'll be there and if I'm lucky, maybe working at WDW part-time, seasonally, or full-time. Maybe being on the 'other side' will teach me more than I want to know.HappyCamper wrote:My serious apologies. That isn't what I wanted at all. I do have a curiousity about all things WDW. Those who answered, (like the sooper sekrit transmitter and the smoking inappropriately), I thank. That's more along the lines of what I was asking originally.
The Disney fan site that I belong to is private. We screen all members carefully so that we aren't bothered by trolls, etc. Guess my guard is down and I didn't mean to offend you in any way, mapo.
Remember, I'm a guest and we do stupid things.
Truly, I hope this thread gets locked so someone can learn from my stupidity or that it be deleted altogether.
