A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

gotcha. Seeing the movie might have helped, eh?
thanks for all the remedial lessons, but I
earned my beads at Mardi Gras, I understood the idiom, comment and joke. I still can't figure out why cars would be aroused by mammary glands. How do the fool things reproduce and feed their young? My original question stands. Are they mammals?

no silly, they are Disney cars!
and just like all things Disney, sometimes things that are normal in our world take on a whole new life in Disneys world.

I will admit...in our house ASL it a type of short-hand (hence, the one-handed thank-you). Also, I tend to use my right hand, whereas the little huy is still learning, so he'll use both. And like Womabt said, ASL is it's own language - there are no articles (the, an, a) and the sentence structure is not the same as "normal" English.
As for stopping tantrums, now that I think on it, yes, it does. Little guy lets us know when he's hungry and (I know...this might be TMI) he'll hold his diapey if he's wet...letting us know he needs to be changed. So, we've actually found it works really well. We had his ears tested in February and there's not loss yet, which is good, but he'll be tested every to 12 months the next three or four years at least.
Well, I'm doing okay, there are resident kitties herre at the shelter, but only a couple are friendly enough to let you pet them without ripping you to shreds. I still am looking forward to getting a place where I can have another kitty, though. I also miss things like cooking, sleeping in a real bed, having privacy, my own computer, etc.. Right now I'm at the church office.

And like any language, there are regional dialects, just like the South has different accents and phrasing from the Northeast or West Coast.
Exactly, BRW. There is a "version" (for lack of a better term) of sign language that is basically putting hand motions to English called SEE (Signing Exact English). However, it is most definitely not ASL, and most Deaf people would not consider it sign language at all.

I find SEE more difficult. Maybe if I had learned SEE first....

Agreed. Having to put in all those "the's" and "a's" is a pain! I understand SEE is mainly useful in educational settings, like when teaching a deaf child to read English, but not really in normal communication.

I learned SEE first - DS also, he now is fluent in ASL - and we do talk 2 different languages! Altho SEE isnt really a "language" but a way to communicate - ASL is a language, as it is associated with a populace, and a culture that is unique to the deaf world. And as such has been recognize by our government, and therefore ASL can be used as a credit as a foreign language in college. (IF the college offers it that is)
Love that there are ASL language interpreters in Disney!
as in all languages, if I dont use it, I lose it - nouns are really easy to remember, sentences, phrases, etc while another is communicating to me - ug not so easy to remember.
