Mental Illness ≠ a "health and safety" threat to the general public. Mental illness ≠ rude, selfish, entitled behavior. I know plenty of folks with "severe mental illness problems" who are quiet, reserved, polite, and gracious. And I know plenty of obnoxious boors who are clinically sane.

Give me a break...obviously I am not referring to the ones that are quiet, reserved, polite and gracious. I am, and this should go without saying, referring to those with violent or irrational tendencies.

The chances are that those that you pointed out are also on medication because you are describing someone without severe mental illness problems or someone with SMI problems that are under control.

Nope. In most cases within my personal experience, neither medicated or otherwise controlled. Not every mental illness manifests in violent or rude behavior, and not all violent or rude behavior can be attributed to mental illness.

While the description of the guestthief screaming their way out to the bus does sound like someone who's not well, everything else up to and including throwing things at people just makes them sound like an asshat.
I never questioned that your statement was true, rather that it was relevant.

Well, it was relevant in the sense that this type of behavior can be found in many places besides Disney and that I felt this was why it was more prevalent then it used to be. The logic being that Disney represents a microcosm of the world around us and being such, will attract it's share of folks that are "out there". And it does present a real threat to others because no action can be taken until something catastrophic happens. Do you want to be the focal point for that catastrophe? Probably not, nor do I. I would so like to think that there is a way for protection from harm without harm happening first. It is a real balancing act that requires some heavy duty oversight to prevent abuses, but it is getting time to have a plan.

Try shoplift from a beverage cart on a hot foods cart. Yesterday it was hot and there was a bunch of kids who were on the way over to New Orleans Square. My lead was loading my beverage cart when this SG kid came over and said can I have this beverage and not pay for it. My lead said no and you can get in the line to purchase a drink. This same arguement kept on going for about 10 minutes. The SG teen was about 17. Sure, if you are caught steeling off a cart while a lead or management is there, you are not to bright. I can see why most of the WDW's theme parks keep their brink displays behind the glass. That is so smart.

I don't make my at-home tea nearly as sweet as the stereotypical Southern Sweet Tea - but I shall make you a fresh batch unsweetened. I have shortbread or graham crackers if you'd like a bite. There might be halvah.

This is why you should charge your kids rent after a certain age- lets them know that they won't get a free ride for too long.

That's what I did. Right after college I gave them 3 months to work on getting a job of their choice. After that, it was just "get a job" and find your way into the one you want because room and board is now in place.

Both got jobs within a month and guess what, they still appear to like me. Their first comments when getting their own place was..."I didn't have any idea how much it costs to live". I did! They are both doing fine now and are responsible, hard working adults. Don't you love it when a plan comes together?
