This thread reminded me of something funny from my recent trip (June 17 -22).

First, I failed on the Cranbiz/Big wallaby hunt.. I had special cards printed up to give them allowing them to beat one stupid guest with a pool cue until their retina detachted..

Anyway, we had a wheelchair for the first and (hopefully) only time. My wife had broken her ankle a couple of weeks before the trip. She had graduated to wearing the big plastic boot and could walk short distances, but not all day park-walking. We only used the "line avoidance" properties on line that had stairs (Space, Splash, and Big Thunder) and always told everyone that she could transfer and walk short distances (lines were usually no problem). No troubles, nothing but great CM's.

We were waiting to leave MK to return to the hotel and the bus pulls up, My wife was in the chair and the bus driver came out a started the wheelchair loading process.

She was the nicest lady, unfortunatly I did not get her name. She was a short little hispanic woman. Very friendly.

My wife and I tried to tell her repeatedly that she could transfer and we could fold the chair, but she kept saying "No, no, it's ok, it's ok" and strapped my wife and the chair in (first and, I believe, the only time we did it the entire trip).

I guess you had to be there, she was just insistant that she was going to stay in that chair and be strapped down. End of story.. I laughed about it the rest of the day.

She was one the the nicest CM's we ran into that week (and all of the CM's were great as usual).

Sorry for boring y'all..

Now that we both are multi hub it is harder to find us. Your best bet is nights as we both are lower than whale poop in the pecking order.

I'll be stuck at AK for the next couple of weeks, with any luck, I'll get to float over to MK.

That's right, Cranbiz! You may have heard of those little things that sit at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, looking up, and when they see a whale give off some AFR, they are thinking "Come to Daddy!"?

One of 'em just stepped on me. His feet are sharp.

Oh, to answer the question first posted in this thread, no. At least, not in booses.

And if anyone wonders why I am now saying booses instead of buses, I have decided that since I really like driving the Nova most of all, and since the Nova is made by Prevost in Canada, I should say boos instead of bus. Gotta pronounce it correctly, even in typing, eh? :D:

I have to say that the majority of bus drivers at Disney are awesome. And it isn't that I am ignoring you but as a hard of hearing person in a PWC, I have a had time getting some drivers to understand that while I know they are talking I have no idea if they are talking to my back or the floor. To hear I need to see their face. So please if a short PWC users tells you she is hard of hearing and can't understand what you are saying realize I'm not trying to be a stupid guest. I really can't hear your words even if I know you are talking. Oh and yes I do know how to drive that PWC.

Hey, I had a stupid moment. At the McDonald's at Marketplace there is a deaf guy working there. I didn't realize it until he actually said it. I was asking a question and he wasn't answering the question I was asking and I was getting frustrated. Once he told me that he was sorry, but he couldn't understand me as he was deaf, I asked in sign and got just the answer I was looking for.

When I was a teen, I was told by 18 I would be deaf as I had a host of ear problems, and they thought that was the direction I was going. God, am I glad they were wrong. But I got the best of both worlds: I can hear the beautiful sounds around me, but at the same time, I speak what I consider to be the most beautiful language in the world.

Next time you visit, track me down. I love meeting HH and Deaf people. Plus, I've grown kinda lax on my Sign and want to relearn.

Hmmm... wonder if this is common with marsupials? Different path, but I've learned quite a lot of ASL. I'm far from fluent, but can carry on a conversation if the other person is patient with me. It's easy to get really rusty if you don't sign regularly. I'm with you, though -- it is an amazing and beautiful language.

Wombat, your Vocal Majority needs to work signing into their act. I just love to watch people sing and sign at the same time. It's really beautiful.

All I know is thank you, smart and the middle finger. The first two thanks to Blues Clues and the last I can probably attribute to my father :D:

You must have missed the very special episode where Magenta made a mess on Steve's carpet. :p:
