"Doctors Say Roller Shoes Injuring Kids"

It may be caused by CMs whacking them.

You fellow heely haters will love this one:

My daughter has been properly trained to hate heelies. This is my proof.

We were in MK on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of last week. When the first heely kid zooms in front of my daughter this what I heard, "Look Mom a stupid kid on stupid heelies."

I swear that is what she actually said. I couldn't stop myself from laughing.

This is the article that appeared in my local paper about it.

http://www.thenewstribune.com/soundlife ... 78650.html

My favorite quote: “As with bikes, skateboarding, or inline skates, the right safety gear and precautions are very important,” Mike Staffaroni, chief executive officer of Heelys, said in an e-mail. “Heelys recommends that anyone wearing a pair of wheeled shoes wear a helmet, wrist guards, knee pads and elbow pads.”

Okay, raise your hand if you've ever seen any kid ever wearing protective gear while wearing Heelys. No one's raising their hands? Gee, maybe it's because people wear protective gear when they wear real rollerblades. Myself, the only time I ever see kids wearing Heelys is in places like the mall, the airport, Disneyland, the zoo, the supermarket, etc.

Geez, they're sure trying to cover their butts.

But it's hard to look 'cool', with all that protective gear. "Too dorky"

I think I found an even worse place for using your Heelys- I was at Souplantation today and saw a Darling Child on Wheels cruise through the Soup, Pasta, Drinks and Dessert buffet area. Her ?Guardian was walking quickly behind her, trying to keep up! I wonder what would have happened if she had collided with a person carrying some nice hot soup on their tray...but then she would have had to go to our Medical Clinic with those damn things on

Cool vs. Alive. I do a lot of biking. A couple of years ago I was going down a decent. At the bottom was a nice left hand sweeper. At the apex in the shadow of a tree was a wet spot. The rear tire slipped and I went down. Hard.

The resulting injuries were a fractured clavicle, multiple fractured ribs one of which punctured a lung, bruised heart and a 12 inch wide bruise that extended from my shoulder to below my hip.

Because I was wearing a helmet I had no head injuries. Not even a headache. The helmet was basically destroyed.

The next time you're at a decision point that has the options of "Cool" vs. "Alive" think about my helmet.
