[quote="felinefan"]One busy day I was running Huff 'N' Puff, and there was this family in line that apparently were Italian, judging from the kids' names. Well, they would ride, go around, and then push their way back to the front of the line to ride again. I told them, "No cutting in line," and the parents said, "They weren't cutting." I don't remember for sure if I told them that if they push ahead of the other kids waiting in line, that's cutting, maybe I did, or maybe I just told them they have to go to the back of the line and wait their turn. I went home that night and looked up the subject of lines in a book on forgien customs and gestures, and sure enough, in Italy there's no lines. I always looked forward to Brits and Aussies coming to the park]The Japanese are probably the worst. They get it from fighting their way on to the trains. To their credit, if you say something, they'll sheepishly get into line.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Do not be sorry. Some people are rather rude and take over a thread then more people come in to stick their nose where it is not wanted.Taryn wrote:geez, I'm sorry I even bothered...
I greatly enjoyed your first STG and everyone here needs everyone's imput so we can vent, laugh and learn. Never be sorry for the mean people of the world.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Churchy to some extent: Don't be sorry for starting a thread that others took off topic. Venting about sh*t that happens is pretty much the reason for the site (as near as I can figure). And please don't think that those of us who 'took over' the thread are trying to take all the focus off of your horrible experience. It's true that what you witnessed was traumatizing to not only the child, but also you. It's pretty normal, I think, to want to help in that situation but to feel completely helpless and powerless to do so. I wish I had a better answer (knock his block off, or get security...but honestly: would even security do anything about it? Overt abuse in public, sure, but something that's kinda subtle and easily hidden like what you witnessed?) or at least something to say to make you feel better...but I think the only right answer is that sometimes bad shit just happens and all you can do is learn from it...and maybe tell others so they will be aware and learn. But who knows, maybe the shameful wretch who did this is reading SGT and he stumbles across this thread and learns something about himself...and we all learn and grow in the process.Taryn wrote:geez, I'm sorry I even bothered...
