Yesterday I finished my (re)training, and have pulled the "Earning My Ears" ribbon off my nametag. I am now a duly qualified Lobby Concierge at the Contemporary Resort.
The change from Main Street Ops is pretty remarkable. For one thing -- no trains. :locomotiv
Another change is that the managers here are not only glad to have me, they're available, knowledgable, and helpful. On Main Street, all seemed to be missing at lest one of these.
OTOH, my fellow CMs on the train were very reliable. Call-ins generally meant someone was seriously ill, or that scheduling decided they didn't need to go to the funeral after all. :rip: At the hotel, it's about as common as bad ECV drivers. Even my trainers missed 5 out of 13 days of training.
The general atmosphere is courteous, supportive, and the laughter is louder than the grumbling. It's more than a new department, it feels more like a new planet! :love2:
While I do miss the spirit of Main Street, the Show Quality work, and my many good friends I left behind, I have to say that I'm happy about the change. It's more than just a satisfactory alternative.
<Quick, somebody stop him before he starts spewing pixie dust!> :notink:
Anyway, I wanted y'all to know that I not only landed on my feet, it appears to be solid ground.
Oh, and the "Misguided Tours" of the MK will continue to be available.

Oh great and wise Zazu did you not forget about the monorail that runs through the hotel? (It's sorta like a train)Zazu wrote:The change from Main Street Ops is pretty remarkable. For one thing -- no trains. :locomotiv

Sunday thru Tuesday. Hours vary, as I'm low man on the seniority roster until the next bid cycle. Good luck!Mommytomjm wrote:Yay!! Got a new schedule so we can stalk, errrr, I mean visit you to say hi.

Yes, but with only one rail, it's only half as good.Yeti Chaser wrote:Oh great and wise Zazu did you not forget about the monorail that runs through the hotel? (It's sorta like a train)![]()

Congrats, Zazu! I may take you up on that tour the next time I'm there -- sadly, not for another year and a half. :(
