Accident at Lights, Motor, Action?

Post by Anna » Thu May 18, 2006 9:30 pm

I read this on another board from a person who is usually quite reliable with her postings. I am hoping that everyone is alright:

"Accident Today At Lights, Motors, Action
My sister, DD and I went to MGM today. My sister hadn't seen the stunt show, so we decided to watch. It was almost at the end of the show. The good guy on the motorcycle went up the ramp to do a jump. When he hit the second ramp, it looked like he clipped the edge. He went head over heels and hit is head/neck on the ramp. He wasn't moving.

One of the bad guys on another cycle came over after and ended up falling in an attempt to miss the first guy. He seemed okay. He got up and ran to the first guy. People came running from everywhere.

They came over the speakers and said to do emergency evacuation procedures. The CMs started telling the audience to exit the stadium.

They brought out a tent like thing and placed it over the stunt guy that was down. Then, they took big paper things and wrapped them around the tent poles so that the audience couldn't see what was happening.

I hope the stunt guy is okay. He came down very hard on his neck. Very scary. Those guys really earn their pay."

This was posted on today (Thursday).

I love LMAX, all those stunt professionals make it look so easy. It's easy to sometimes forget how dangerous those stunts really are. I really hope he is okay.

Never heard anything about this. . .

I know that LMA will be closed on Tuesday all day. It will be closed Im gussing to test a new effect that they've been working on. That or to see if they could finally do the original plan of having the backlot tour trams going onto the stage when the show is not going on.

Ill find out more.

OUCH! -I hope he's okay too. I actually witnessed a stunt go wrong at Indiana Jones Epic Stunt show. It was the first stunt of the whole show! The roof of the temple breaks open and Indy repels rapidly on a special bungee/rope hybrid. -it broke, and he fell about 15 feet on to the concrete. He instantly broke his ankle and a few other minor contusions. The audience was a little freaked out but gave him a standing ovation as he was helped up and hobled to the stretcher. 20 minutes went by, (the audience was not told to leave, but the next show time was changed) and the 2nd Indiana Jones came out and started the show. Making his entrance from the boulder tunnel, and not from above... for the obvious reasons.

I heard from a friend that the motorcyclist is okay, and that he just broke a few bones.

He? Ok, then it wasn't Kristin (If she's still there). Honestly, I think she is the best one they have there, well, back ground anyway. Numerous championships in motor bike events and she's in LMA at only 19 (or 20 at this point).

Still, glad to hear the dude is ok (Doesn't pay to play the bad guy does it :o: )

Oh, anyone know the reason for LMA being dark yesterday? This was planned before the accident but I never heard an official reason. I thought that they might be testing the original plan of having the backlot tour trams going across the stage between shows. The theater was designed for it, but they never went through with the idea. It was that or they were testing a few new effects.
