Closing Stories

Post by TowerTimmy » Tue Feb 28, 2006 9:14 am

So one night I was at Tower in the Lobby. I love closing at Lobby because it's very easy and very few guests come in. So anywho, at whatever time we closed (7 probably) I get a call from greeter saying the gates were closed.

So what happens when Tower closes is that the HUGE gates outside at the front of the queue literally close, then the greeter walks up the queue and then into the Lobby and we shut the Lobby doors. Then we close the libraires but shutting the doors but not the walls. Then we follow the guests into the boiler room and see that they get on. Once they're on, we start ride throughs on all the elevators (to check for show quality). So the last guests went on, and low and behold we see 3 guests walking up the boiler room!

Get this! They had done ALL of the following:
- Opened the big iron gates at the front of the queue
- walked up the empy line jumping numerous chains
- opened the Lobby doors, closing them behind them
- opend the Library door and walked through
- jumped the boiler room chains and wanted to ride

I took them and said we're closed and walked them right down the way they came and shut the gate in their face. The NERVE of some people!! They think they're SOOO special...

One night (while the cheerleaders rented out MK) I was at Stitch greeter. All guests allowed into the attractions have wristbands (like EMH). Well this woman comes up and just flies through the turnstiles. I ask if she has a wristband or if she is with the cheerleaders. "No, why?" I tell her: "Sorry ma'am, but the park is now only open to the cheerleaders." Her response: "We paid over $900 and we aren't allowed in anything?" I told her: "They paid a couple million, sorry."

I just love it when people try and use how much they spent to be at WDW as an excuse to be let in when we are closed for the night or on EMH!!!

Once again, guests don't realize that they paind money to get INTO the parks, that's about it, not to complain or do anything in the parks.

I work Canoes at DL and we close at 4. (We are also only open 2 days a week 12-4). At 4 we cut the line by putting a trash can at the enterence, a sign that reads "Gone Explorin'" and a cast member stands at the end of the end of the line as we finish grouping out the final boats. So there will be a 10 minute time period as there looks like there is still a line as we have the final 2-3 boat loads of people there. Constantly people call down to the dock. "Hey how do I get down there?"
CM: "Sorry we're closed"
G: "Come on there is just 2 more of us"
CM: "Sorry we closed at 4"

Needless to say this occurs everyday.

One of my favorite attractions to close was RnR Coaster at Studios. It never failed we would have our last guest inside and the CM would follow them in an lock the door (probably not allowed anymore) to the entrance into the building... the other 2 Cms outside would put trash cans in front of the queue entrances and the chains up and begin sweeping and reseting queues ets.
F! would start right at park close and right after the show dump several Guests would run (turbo speed) up wanting to ride and whine how they Knew people we still inside riding and they should be let on...and so on. So while explaining to these guests that we were closed, several athletic idiots would run past the CMs and hop over chains run full speed up the ramp and find the door locked (sometimes nearly killing themselves jumping rows of chains or up the sides of the up ramp), and then come back down and ask if we were closed.. Abbaduh?!

:horseappl Hey guys!... now I know why they call it Nugget Way!

Oh no, we still close the doors, then I station two of the koalas from my army at the doors and a platoon of flying squirrels in the Studio C area just in case.

Chains still get pulled but no trash cans.

However, we do have the occasional people that will jump the chains....then jump right back over when the koalas attach to their faces...
