*Posted on the DL We Are CLOSED thread*
Yuck, had a bad one today. I was closing the Firehouse at MK, which for those who don't know is the only locations at WDW to get Fire Mickey merchandise. I had just closed the big double front doors and was clearing the shop through the side door when a Cheer mom and her 2 ringlet clad daughters came running up to the door and tried to push past me. The conversation that followed:
me: I'm sorry ladies, but we are closed.
cheer mom: Oh, but I thought Main Street was open an hour after the park closes?
me: It is, but carts and smaller outdoor locations are closed, just the big stores remain open.
cheer mom: Oh, but isn't this where the fireman stuff is?
me: Yes ma'am, but (As the last guest leaves) the shop is now clear and I cannot allow anyone else in.
cheer mom: Oh, but my husband is a fireman. So I'm sure you understand that I need to get him a shirt from here.
me: I'm sorry, but I can't let you into the store. It's cleared and now I have to lock it.
Cheer mom gives me the dirtiest look she can muster, informs me that she is taking my name to City Hall and reporting me. I give her my name and point her towards City Hall, close and lock the door.
I then start closing the cash register when about 2 minutes later someone starts knocking at the door. And then the side door, and then the back door. I ignored it, since it's common for guests to pound on the doors after they are closed. I gather the till, and my fellow CM and I exit out the back door and lock it. I turn to head back across main street, and there is Cheer mom.
Cheer mom: They told me at City Hall that you have to let me in to get that Tshirt.
Me: Well ma'am, procedure for that is that a Guest Relations Cast Member would come reopen the shop. I can't open it unless they come over here or call my Manager.
Cheer Brat 1: No, they told mom that she could just come over here.
Me: I'm sorry miss, perhaps GR is calling my manager now, but I can't open the shop until I get confirmation from him.
Cheer brat 2: (Very Obvious Mock tears) But we promised our dad we would get him a souvenier.
Cheer Mom: I want to speak to your superior.
me: Not a problem... if you will just follow me I will get him for you.
Cheer mom: Oh nevermind... I don't care anymore! This is the last time I ever come here! *Storms off with Cheer Brat 1 and Cheer Brat 2*
Darn. I'll sure miss them.

Re: Stupid Freaking Cheerleaders!!!!!
You just reminded me of how great it is why I no longer work at Knott's. We had problems with cheerleaders and cheer moms as well. I remember once on the Calico R.R., I was bringing the train back (as conductor), and this loser cheer mom was unlocking the turnstile and letting herself and her girls in. I was not happy, and told her that she's not supposed to unlock the turnstile for safety reasons, and furthermore there was a sign by the turnstile saying please wait here for conductor. She screamed in my face,"Well, I didn't see it!" I told her that she didn't own me, and needed to follow the rules like everyone else, or get kicked out of the park. Or along that line. Anyway, she said something , but I didn't hear it; maybe it's just as well. No, I didn't get any flak from it, but it sure felt good to say that :) ! But you're right....they're totally stuck-up little bitches, and I for one would like to see one of those rah-rah boom-booms last a day on a real job. Reminds me of an anecdote I read once; an older couple are on a Scandinavian cruise, and they strike up a conversation with a young woman who's a native. Turns out she's headed to America to seek work. The couple tell her they were looking for household staff, and ask if she can cook. The girl says, "No, I can't cook; that was my mother's job." They ask if she can do laundry and clean; she replies, no, that was her sister's job. Shopping? Childcare? No, those had been another sister's job. Finally they ask her, "Well, what can you do?" The girl's face lights up and she proudly says, "Well, I can sure milk a reindeer!" I bet if one of those sis-boom-bahs got a real job, they'd be pulling the princess act, trying to get out of doing any real work. Oh, no, I can't do that! My nail polish will get chipped! Remove my 5" French tips? No way! Wear a conservative business suit? Gag me! You get the idea. Cheerleading as a sport? Reminds me of a single panel cartoon I once saw of two guys fishing in a boat, and one asks the other, "If fishing is a sport, does that mean we're athletes?" I've never seen how cheerleading earns its participants a living by rewarding talent, like more mainstream sports do. Okay, maybe the Laker Girls or something, but face it, I'd think the turnover for that would be high; that's a young person's game. And then what would they do to support themselves? Stand on a street corner with a sign that says, "Will Cheer for Food"? Think about it.

Re: Stupid Freaking Cheerleaders!!!!!
A friend of mine was in the MK tonight, and she saw a group of them get kicked out of the park for doing cheers (including stunting) in the middle of Main Street. They were asked not to 3 times, and at the 3rd time, they apparently told a security officer to "Go (screw) himself", which earned them an escort out of the park.
Personally, I think we'd see a lot better behaviour from these groups if some of the area managers (or park duty managers) had the authority to get in touch with the event organizers, and disqualify teams for bad behaviour while in the parks. Said disqualification would carry with it a 3 year ban from any other dinsey sponsored competitions.

I like that idea a LOT! If they want to use our facilitys, then they need to follow our rules.hhsrat wrote:Personally, I think we'd see a lot better behaviour from these groups if some of the area managers (or park duty managers) had the authority to get in touch with the event organizers, and disqualify teams for bad behaviour while in the parks. Re: Stupid Freaking Cheerleaders!!!!!
Wow...I've apparently missed a lot of rants in my hiatus.
Anyways,...the cheerleaders were never much of a problem for the character department. Yeah, it was open season on us for 'groping' (no complaints here) and the only other problems were the group photos. Every cheerleader from every squad had their own camera and would give it to one poor schmo to take. So after going through about 25 to 30 different cameras, our set was almost over. (Once again, no complaints!) :D:
I did have one endearing moment with one cheerleader who was head over heels about Beast. Her team had gone and moved on to other characters, but she stayed in line the whole time to see me. -She was actually in tears when she got her hug, and photo...I even did a quick waltz with her. Totally made her day. What was even more spectacular was later in the day I was on set and the same squad passed by. She was with them again, and I wasn't busy. So I was able to maneuver through the squad and single her out. I Picked a flower from a nearby hedge, and gave it to her. (Again...tears.) But all of her cheerleader friends loved it too, and gave a large spontaneous "Awwwwwww".

Re: Stupid Freaking Cheerleaders!!!!!
:p: Hi all...I just joined this group this past weekend. And Boy am I glad to have found this site. I am a former CP (twice now) I worked at The Disney MGM studios both of those times once on Sunset doing Quick Service and second time at the BackLot tour water tank in Area six. Both of the times i have worked down there I have had the "pleasure" of having the freaking stage set up shop in front of where I worked for the Pop Warner kids.
I loved picking them for volunteers just to see their little perfect curls plastered to their heads (i neglected to tell them to put their hoods on). The majority of the cheerleaders this past time were actually fairly decent. Although when the party came I was soon singing a different tune. I found a couple sneaking backstage to do "not-so-disney" activities. They sure proved a lot of fun though for the days and weeks there after.

Three down, Hundreds to go. Let's get to work! During my first College Program, I was working at Riverside during Pop Warner. It was so bad, our managers had special meetings with us to prepare us. It was actually nice. They promised to stand behind us to those brats. It was awful. Nothing could have prepared me. The were stealing things, and doing pyramids in the middle of the food court... and your day isn't complete until you've been cussed out by an eight-year-old. They were only at our resort because they broke so many things at another resort last year they got sent to us. As if that isn't a sign!Main_Street_Merch wrote:Cheer mom: Oh nevermind...
