His most famous role may have been Gilligan but he'll always be Maynard G. Krebs to me. RIP

Well... I may be a little late but the sentiment is the same.

I have to admit that I got suckered into it as well. When I saw it, I thought that this was old news, but since I don't really follow the life and times of the stars...I just figured that I was wrong. Still...it is sad no matter when it happened.

As Maynard G. Krebs he was quickly became the breakout star of the Dobie Gillis show. I know my family tuned in just to see him.

Ahhhh, you got to it before I did! Yeah, I noticed it was an old article right away, especially when they said he died Sept. 6th, and today is only the 3rd. Then I saw the date. But I love his wife's name--Dreama. Interesting background he had, too. I remember one episode of Gilligan's Island where Gillian had this dream in which he was being chased by the Skipper, and as they went around and around a large block, Denver's then-toddler son appeared and ran around and around, making it look as if Gilligan had turned into a baby. There was, in TV Guide I think, a picture around that time showing Denver with his son.

BTW have you noticed how whenever critics say a show's premise is going to flop, or otherwise say something negative, the show is usually a success?

Oh, I also remember one time when Denver was in Dobie Gillis, he was interviewed by Hans Conreid in his show, Fractured Flickers. Denver didn't have his beatnik beard, but Conreid had one, and was talking beat to Denver, who was talking standard English to Conried. Interesting, to say the least.

Fixed that for you.
