Next time I'm at Costco I'll buy a jar of Tang to honor the space program.

Don'tcha just love those 70s fashions on display? :D: I don't see William Shatner in that picture, or Yeoman Janice Rand, Or Nurse Chapel. Gene Roddenbury is the big guy in the brown suit. Scotty (James Doohan) is behind Leonard Nimoy and Nichelle Nichols. I used to have a big crush on Chekhov when I was a kid.

Actually, there have been several ships named Enterprise throughout history. There was one during the Revolutionary War, and one during World War II.

As crazy as it is, I'd rather have us in the hands of the Russians than the Chinese.

BTW, this happened to me of the day:

Anyone who is friends with me on FB knows my passion for the shuttle program. I would shed a tear watching each launch, and was happy my two girls sat and watched the last one with me.

I was lucky enough to see her for a second as she screamed her final time for the stars. Little Wallaby saw her for a full thirty seconds. I was rather jealous.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Sadly, I didn't - it was too cloudy up here in Jacksonville.

I remember the first launch after the loss of Columbia - it was the 4th of July, and we were watching our town parade, which runs along a road that parallels the St. Johns river. At the end of the parade, the police car at the end announced that the shuttle had just launched...and we had a perfect, almost unobstructed view over the river...beautiful.

I'm afraid that our nation is a lesser place without a manned space program.

On so many levels, I think we can leave it at that.

Interesting side note, you can tell by looking at it that Enterprise was never designed for reentry. It has no tiles, just a Fiberglass body.
Is that Carl Sagan in the middle there?
