The whale population is down this year. The whale census taken a few weeks ago said we've got about half of the numbers we saw last year. The current thinking is because the Alaska waters didn't get as cold as they normally do a lot of the whales decided not to make the trip. Consequently, whale watching hasn't been all that good this year. Until today...
