Stupid Airline Tricks

Post by Cheshire Figment » Tue Sep 15, 2009 9:38 pm

This is the only place I thought this could be posted.

This morning I was at a Delta First Class check in counter at LAX on my way home from D23. This obviously distraught lady goes to an agent near me and says that the automated system will not print her boarding pass. And her flight to wherever ( I did not hear location) was scheduled to leave in less than an hour.

The Agent asks for her ID and enters information into the terminal and then says to her something to the effect of:

"Your reservation is for a flight out of San Diego. Right now you are in Los Angeles International Airport"

At that point my transaction was completed and I did not stick around to see how the situation was resolved, or how much it cost her.

It's understandable, they're both Spanish named cities. Blame it on the missionaries.

One summer in college I was a seasonal toll collector on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

I was assigned to the toll plaza where if you're heading into Boston, you must stop and give up the paper ticket and pay your toll up to that point, about 10 miles outside the city.

Well, I get a woman in my lane who stops and pays. (Her ticket says she got on the Turnpike in Worcester, about 30 miles west of my plaza) She then asks "How much farther to Buffalo Airport?".

That stops me in my tracks, and I stutter out "You mean *Boston* Airport, right? Logan International?".

"No, Buffalo."

"Umm... You went the wrong way. Buffalo is in New York. You're almost to Boston."

She asked how to turn around. I gave her directions on how to drive to the next exit to turn around, and she took off.

And the thing was, her carefree attitude about it was as if she didn't think it was that far of a drive. (I can just imagine her saying "But look, it's not that far away on the map...") Heck, *Albany* airport would be a bit of a drive at about 3 hours... Buffalo is easily a 7 or 8-hour drive...

Boy, could I tell you about some Stupid Driver Tricks from that summer...

That is a good one. How would that even be possible to miss your airport by over 100 miles?

did she do one of thos "one way tickets" each way, and mess up booking the return flight?

hehehehhehehehe

I suprised she didn't ask where the taxi stand was to get to San Diego!!
