American English is a multi-cultural language. We have words from Russia, Finland, Spain, Mexico, UK, France, Canada, Italy, etc etc etc. Many of those words are "americanized" - endings chopped off, spellings changed, etc. Heck, even objects are not called the same thing in different part...

My only problem with forgeign langauge speakers, who will come up to you and start saying something to you in their native tounge, to see if you also speak the language, and then just saying stuff to you really fast, to eliminate any chance of translation, you can tell because they'll give a sly lo...

I see your point, but if you just try to shut up the baby (who has a reason for being uncomfortable) and not find out until later that say, the baby has been constipated and has ruptured something internally, or had a bad reaction to food or medicine or something, you're not being a very good paren...
