Re: Perimeter Fireworks and Road Closures
We were waiting in traffic once to go down the far right lane of a usually three-lane road, watching them put the last finishing touches on the left two lanes of nice, fresh asphalt, when a city bus driver pulled out, veered over to the left lane, and trundled down to the blocked-off road he wanted,...

The impression I get from reading this post is that you seem to believe that every rape is a male forcing himself on a female, which is pretty offensive to males in general, especially males that are not rapists. I am sorry I gave that impression. I don't believe that, actually, although as a femal...

Re: Google
Google's 48th Star Trek Anniversary logo is hilarious and multipaneled. Poor redshirt.
Also... Google Doodles you'll never see (I like the Amish one best):

Re: Adventures In Fruity Drink Land
Depending on level of interest, it could take a minimum of two days to really see everything they have. Don't be saying that! We're supposed to be heading out there sometime this month or the next, and I'm already overwhelmed. The Strategic Air and Space Museum in Nebraska was about the right size ...

Re: A Coming of Age Story
When to make a decision to leave the party, or to go someplace with a friend, and to TELL someone your schedule if you are going somewhere alone. Like I have heard some of the seminar officers tell the classes, you don't have to be paranoid, but it can sure help. Well, sure, anyone can learn that k...

Re: Neil Armstrong Will Not Be Down for Breakfast
RIP Neil Armstrong. :(
My kids knew Armstrong was an astronaut. I have my doubts that they knew he was the first man to walk on the moon, though.

I think all he should have addressed is her behavior, not her body. Second that, for a slightly different reason. Guys who address a girl's body get dismissed as dirty old men; can't dismiss comments that stick to behavior so easily. ;) one of the hardest jobs I have had was to interview victims of...

Re: Thanking CMS
Is there anything that one can do to initiate more "quality" time with the character? Not all just a specific one... Knowing the character helps -- you can ask them things related to their back story (asking Aurora if she takes long naps, or Snow White if she likes apples, for instance). ...

Re: A Coming of Age Story
My point is, if you, or your kid, is going to come up with a weapon to defend yourself you'd better be ready to use it. Otherwise, you may have it taken away and used against you. In my experience, at least most situations most women are likely to be in, a weapon just complicates things. For women,...
