The days before Fantasmic, when the crowd-herding wasn't required so much. I understand the logic behind the ropes and flashlight beaers but it sure gets frustrating when you want to go one way and are told you have to go another. WDW used to quietly escort armed guests backstage to the sheriff substation so they could use the gun lockers there.
